Without being in gear, If you push the clutch in and out and the whine comes and goes with the clutch engaging/diengaging, It is normally the throwout bearing. When the tranny is engaged and the whine is consistent in one of the gears or all with the clutch totally disengaged, then you know it is the gears or synchros in the tranny. Damn, I do like the trans cooler idea the more I think about it...Hmmm. Good luck Dee..Give me a call when you get a chance
